About

A native of California, soprano Leberta Lorál is a highly regarded concert and operatic soloist.  To critical acclaim, she has performed a broad spectrum of concert works, ranging from the Baroque to Contemporary periods.  Her core repertoire comprises pieces such as Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Magnificat” and the “Mass in B minor”, Händel's “Messiah”, Mozart's “Requiem”, Rossini's “Stabat Mater”, Mendolssohn's “Elijah”, Saint/Saëns’s “Christmas Oratorio” and the Fauré “Requiem”, as well as, 20th century compositions such as Vaughan-Williams’s “The First Nowell”.   Her operatic repertoire includes the roles of Serena in Porgy and Bess and the Mother in Hansel and Gretel.  Next season, she will add Venus in Tannhäuser and Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, as well as the Mezzo in the Verdi “Requiem” and the “Stabat Mater” of Pergolsi.

A regional winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, she has appeared numerous times as a featured soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra’s Summer Concert Series at Hollywood Bowl, Southeast Symphony, Monterey County Symphony and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

Following her European début in Bremen as Serena in Gershwin's “Porgy and Bess”, Ms. Lorál was invited to perform in a series of concerts in the Swedish capital of Stockholm.

In conjunction with her sincere commitment to a better society, Ms. Lorál performed in an AIDS benefit concert entitled "Divas Simply Singing", with Hollywood notables like Sheryl Lee Ralph and Alfre Woodard, at which she was hailed as “simply phenomenal”. She also served as the inspiration for "Songs of Rumi" and "Song of Songs" by a young, up and coming American composer, Frederick Bayani Mabalot, who dedicated these works to her.

In February 2011, Ms. Lorál was the soloist in Mahler's “Rückert-Lieder” in Munich in the Herkulessaal der Residenz and the Stadtsaal Fürstenfeldbruck with the Symphonisches Orchester Münchens Andechs with Maestro Andreas Pascal Heinzmann.

Past engagements also include concerts in Sydney, Australia in October 2011 where she performed the works of Maestro Mabalot at the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and a Holiday 2011 AIDS benefit concert in Los Angeles, CA.
